IM Security Center researchers tracked 33 new malicious code attacks over IM networks in February. Chode, Sohana and Spotface were the most common with three variants each. There were 19 attacks on P2P networks, such as Kazaa and eDonkey. February 2007’s threats nearly tripled over the same period last year, says Akonix VP of marketing Don Montgomery. IM has become a necessary enterprise collaboration tool, and in turn have made it one of their principal means of exploiting corporate networks.”]
