Researchers at Lookout found 238 Android apps with adware hidden in Google Play. The adware is called BeiTaAd, a well-obfuscated ad plugin that could display ads on the lock screen. BeiTa adware can trigger video and audio ads even while the phone is asleep. Researchers say all affected apps have been removed from Google Play or updated to versions that don’t contain the adware. The publisher, CooTek, is known for legitimate Android apps and listed on the NYSE.”]
