Facebook’s Libra Cryptocurrency Prompts Privacy Backlash

Facebook is preparing to launch its own cryptocurrency, Libra, in 2020. Lawmakers and regulators are raising concerns about the offering based on the companys poor history of protecting user data. Facebook launched a subsidiary called Calibra on Tuesday, which is developing a digital wallet for the company’s virtual currency – Libra. Facebook is already facing scrutiny from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission regarding its data-sharing practices, with the company preparing to pay as much as $3 billion fine.”]
