Microsoft has rolled out a new batch of software and microcode updates to address the Spectre flaw (Variant 2) The IT giant has been releasing software mitigations for the Spectre and Meltdown flaws since January. The Spectre Variant 2, aka CVE-2017-5715, is a branch target injection vulnerability, while the Meltdown and Variant 1 of the Spectre attacks can be mitigated efficiently with software updates. Microsoft has issued the security update 4078407 that enables by default. Advanced users can also manually enable mitigation against Spectre, Variant 2 through registry settings.”]
