Navy gunners unphased by integer overflow bug concerns

The South African Navy has fired a Noon Gun every day for close on 200 years. The cannons blast out a huge puff of very smoky gunpowder so ships in the harbour can see exactly when it’s noon, because the sound takes a few seconds to reach the city and the water’s edge below. Yesterday was the Navy’s 65,535th firing of the gun – just shy of 180 years. So far, the firing is not actually fired on Sundays since the cannon was fired on 65535 Sundays.”]
