Snapchat to address sketchy third-party apps with public API at some point

Snapchat says it’s working on a public API to fix third-party apps that can leak photos. The app SnapSaved.com uses a reverse-engineered Snapchat API to save Snapchat images. An attacker walked through a misconfigured Apache server and scooped up 500MB worth of images, hundreds of thousands of which were subsequently published online last week. Snapchat has been known for its lackadaisical attitude about security and its lack of trustability. The company says its taking time to get it right and is working on fixing the problem.”]
