Microsoft held in contempt while it appeals court decision in customer email case

Microsoft and US government agree to hold company in contempt for refusing to hand over customers’ emails stored in the cloud at its Dublin data center. Microsoft won’t be fined or punished, but will have chance to appeal court order to cough up customer’s communications. Case concerns a narcotics trafficking investigation. Microsoft believes cloud emails are ours and have same privacy protection as paper letters sent by mail.
