Multiple sources in the banking industry say they are tracking a pattern of fraud on cards that were all recently used at Michaels Stores Inc. The arts-and-crafts retailer maintains more than 1,250 stores across the United States. The Secret Service confirms that it is investigating a potential data breach at Michaels. Michaels says it is working with federal law enforcement and is conducting an investigation with the help of third-party data security experts to establish the facts.
