Pepper spray-armed ATM misfires

A bank in Cape Town, South Africa, has equipped its cash machines with pepper spray to deter criminals from tampering and stealing money. Three people were treated after the machine was blown up during a routine maintenance operation at an ATM in Fish Hoek. The technology is not foolproof, but it could be used to deter thieves from using it in the future. It is not the first time the machines have been equipped with this type of technology. It has been used in South Africa for the past two years.”]
