Hackers planted malware onto 5,390 point-of-sale payment tills at Currys PC World and Dixons Travel stores. Hackers had stolen personal data records of 1.2 million individuals and 5.6 million payment card details. DSG Retail was fined 500,000 this week by the Information Commissioner’s Office. But the fine could have been much worse for DSG if the hack had gone unnoticed for just one more month.
