The best ones I’ve seen have what I call “open air” mode where you can have the window cracked open a few inches while the system is still activated. The really coolest alarm system I’ve ever seen was integrated into the house’s wiring grid. It handled Ethernet, motion-detected lighting, and everything else. It would e-mail you every time someone would punch in a code to enter the home, or if your alarm went off, and which room/whatever. Hard wired can be a little trickier.”]
