GAO Will Investigate FCC’s Sketchy Claim That a Cyberattack Broke Its Comment System

The GAO will investigate the Federal Communications Commission and its chief Ajit Pai’s claims that a cyberattack took down the FCCs public commenting system earlier this year. In May, the FCC claimed it was attacked by malicious parties against the conclusions of its own cybersecurity officials. The agency never released any documentation supporting its version of events, which led to suspicion the FCC was merely trying to delegitimize opposition to Pais regulations-slashing agenda. The FCC eventually received a record-setting 21 million comments about Pai’s proposal to kill open internet rules.”]
