2020 DBIR Results & Analysis

Ransomware accounted for 3.5% of unique malware samples submitted for analysis. At least one piece of ransomware was blocked by 18% of organizations through the year. Droppers and Trojans seem to fall into category #3 in the survivorship bias callout. The data indicates a lack of protection from this type of malware in organizations, but that can be stopped.Cryptocurrency mining malware fell squarely in category #4. It accounted for a mere 2.5%.
