Microsoft researchers and Digital Crimes Unit used AI to crack down on tech support scams worldwide. Microsoft receives at least 10,000 complaints a month from around the world about pop-up ads and telemarketers claiming to be legitimate tech support representatives. The team used custom tools, running on Microsofts Azure cloud computing platform, to look for similarities, images and other visual clues that would be relevant to the fraud investigation. The Federal Trade Commission announced a major crackdown on these scammers last month.”]
