Cryptocryptone mining was the new payload of choice for adversaries, dislodging the lump-sum payouts of threats like ransomware. The value of the currency being mined has cratered to a little more than $0.04 per day for a basic home computer. As we move into 2019, it’s likely that the payloads of choice will continue to diverge between different aspects of the threat landscape.
