The Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited acknowledged today that malware was found on the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant’s administrative network. The admission comes a day after the company denied that any attack would affect the plant’s control systems. The malware in question, Dtrack, has been used in widespread attacks against financial and research centers. Dtrack appears to be an espionage and reconnaissance tool, logging keystrokes, scanning connected networks, and monitoring active processes on infected computers. While the administrative network of KKNPP was likely not a good route for such an attack, it certainly could provide information about maintenance operations that would be useful for espionage.”]
