Livingston School District in New Jersey Hit With Ransomware

The New Jersey school district was affected by a ransomware attack on November 21st, 2019. The school district has notified law enforcement and is working with a security company to investigate the attack. The district states that most of the school’s services are up and running, but that their normal phone system and their Genesis Parent Access Portal are still not accessible. It has not been disclosed how the attackers gained access to the district’s network or the type of ransomware that they are infected with. They state that they will release the rest of the data if an increased ransom payment is not made.
