Beware of “Unofficial” Sites Pushing Notepad2 Adware Bundles

Notepad2 is a replacement for the popular Notepad replacement for Windows 10. The popular software can be downloaded as an adware bundle. When downloaded, the installer has the fairly innocent name. ESET blocked the file from being downloaded. Thankfully, ESET was able to block the setup as I would have ruined my freshly installed virtual machine. Do more research before downloading software unless you know it’s coming from a reputable source, which is preferably the developer’s site. The only odd thing I noticed was that the logo they were using was that was similar to the one for Notepad++.
