Botnet Crackdowns Staunch Spam…For a Month

The crackdowns on massive, spam-spewing botnets disrupted the global flow of spam e-mail for about a month. Spam volumes dropped 1.5 percent between August and September, 2010, Kaspersky Lab report says. The U.S. was the biggest source of spam, followed by India and Vietnam. Europe including Russia and Eastern Europe was the single regional source of the global spam. The report points to the shifting sources of global spam, including Europe.
