Russia Blocks Tutanota Email, Service Still Usable Over Tor or VPN

Access to the Tutanota secure email service is currently being blocked in Russia, with the block enacted over the weekend, starting February 14. Russia’s telecommunications watchdog, Roskomnadzor, usually published an official statement on occasions when similar services were blocked in the country. The move is seen as an attempt to block its citizens’ access to confidential and encrypted communication, the core of the company’s product. Users who cannot access the service can use a VPN or Tor browser to evade the ongoing block to get access to their secure mailboxes.
