Microsoft released the March 2020 Office security updates on March 10, 2020, with a total of 13 security updates and 5 cumulative updates for 6 different products. 12 of them patching bugs allowing attackers to execute arbitrary code remotely after exploitation. Microsoft also leaked information about a pre-auth remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability in the Server Message Block 3.0 (SMBv3) network communication protocol. The company later issued an advisory with details on how to disable SMBv3 compression for protecting servers against exploitation attempts.
