Police Seize Bot Farm Behind Potentially Fatal Scam Messages

Ukrainian police raided six locations in six cities in Ukraine. Bot farm allowed customers to buy large numbers of active accounts for multiple online services. These were then used to deliver unsolicited messages. Authorities say they were used for distributing scam messages (alleged car winnings), spam, and phishing. The perpetrators will be prosecuted for extortion, terrorist acts, and for deliberately releasing false reports that threatened citizen’s security, police say. The operation was also used to spread false reports about areas cleared of explosive mines.
