A member of law enforcement acknowledged at SOURCE Boston that the lack of communication around ransomware remains a serious problem. Frank McLaughlin, a detective with the Boston Police Department s cybersecurity division, said the BPD doesn t see a whole lot of ransomware cases. McLaughlin acknowledged the FBI began encouraging ransomware victims to report infections last fall. He said he understands that having more data on ransomware attacks and encouraging victims to. report such attacks are some of the first steps toward combatting them.
