US Accounts for More than Half of World’s Ransomware Attacks

More than half of the global detections originating from the U.S., Malwarebytes’ global detection statistics for this type of malware. Ryuk is currently the main ransomware threat for businesses, while GandCrab is at the top of the list. South Korea is the most affected by file-encrypting threats according to the service, followed by the US and Brazil. Ransomware remains a sound business mode for cybercriminal, incentivizing them to deploy new attacks, as long as companies continue to pay to get data restored.
