Requests from the U.S. government alone went up 29 percent, the company said in its latest transparency report. Government requests for Twitter user data have grown steadily since the company first began publishing transparency reports in 2012. The company provided some information in 80 percent of those requests. The U.N. government is using its authority to keep some of its orders secret on a more frequent basis. The report comes a few months after the company filed a lawsuit against the federal government over the way it restricts companies ability to report certain kinds of government orders.
