Google Stored Unhashed G Suite Passwords for Over a Decade

Google accidentally stored unsecured passwords in plain text for 14 years. The issue was traced to 2005 and impacts G Suite users only. It was caused by an error in the implementation of the antiquated feature for manually setting and recovering passwords. Google says the issue has been fixed and the data remained in its encrypted infrastructure for 14 days. A similar incident occurred in January 2019, when unhashed passwords were again discovered on Google’s encrypted infrastructure. The incident was also fixed and there was no indication of improper access or misuse.
