Application testing firm Veracode said on Wednesday that it was expanding its service to vet the security of mobile applications to cover Apple iPhone and Google Android devices. The firm already offered application testing for Blackberry RIM and Windows Mobile devices. Mobile applications have proven to be an Achilles heel for mobile device makers like Google and Apple, which have built robust security features into their mobile operating systems. Inadequate or insecure data storage and hard coded passwords are among the most common vulnerabilities in mobile devices, the company said.
