The Week in Ransomware – November 15th 2019 – Holy Ransomware

SmarterASP.net was hit by the Snatch Ransomware and a new ransomware called NextCry specifically targets the NextCloud file sharing solution. Mexico’s state-owned oil company, Pemex, has suffered a DoppelPaymer ransomware attack that demanded $4.9 million USD in order to decrypt their files. A data recovery company is dubiously claiming it has cracked decryption of the Dharma ransomware despite there being no known method of unscrambling its files. Malvertising campaign being used on low quality web games and blogs is redirecting Asian victims to the RIG exploit kit.
