KDE Plasma Welcomes Windows 7 Refugees to the Linux Side

Windows 7 will reach end of support next week and stop receiving security and bug fixes. Microsoft’s 10-year-old OS will no longer receive bug fixes and security updates. Windows 7 users will be left exposed to attacks devised to exploit new vulnerabilities. The Plasma desktop environment could attract huge amounts of new users to the Linux side given that Windows currently owns 77% of the global desktop market, while all Linux desktops combined don’t go above 2%. Over 26% are Windows users amounting to roughly one billion people that can’t let go of Windows 7 because they’re scared of the change.
