Microsoft Releases Attack Surface Analyzer Tool

Microsoft has released a public version of its internal Attack Surface Analyzer tool. The tool has been in beta for a few months, but this is the first official release. It helps organizations identify changes to a system s attack surface as new applications are added. Even small changes on a system can lead to unanticipated consequences, including new vulnerabilities and weak spots where attackers might be able to slide in. Microsoft says the tool also can be of use to developers who can see how the code that they’re writing will affect the security of a system.
