The Week in Ransomware – August 16th 2019 – Fairly Slow

Researchers at Check Point were able to infect a Canon EOS 80D DSLR over a rogue WiFi connection. The most interesting story was researchers being able to install ransomware on a Canon DSLR camera. In June, two cities in Florida agreed to make Bitcoin ransom payments worth roughly $600,000 and $460,000, respectively. In both cities, most of the payments will be covered by their insurers.
