A recent survey by the Enterprise Strategy Group and the Information Systems Security Association of cybersecurity professionals shows that 70 percent believe their organization has been impacted by the global cybersecurity skills shortage. 45 percent believe the skills shortage has gotten worse over the past few years, while 48 percent say it s about the same. A full 63 percent of respondents in the survey said they ve worked in cybersecurity for less than three years, with 76 percent starting as IT professionals before switching their career to cybersecurity. The report also found that many professionals start out in IT, and find themselves working in cybersecurity without a complete skill set.
