Billions of Devices Open to Wi-Fi Eavesdropping Attacks

The Kr00k bug arises from an all-zero encryption key in Wi-Fi chips. It allows attackers to eavesdrop on communications from Amazon, Apple, Google, Samsung and others. The vulnerable chips are found in smartphones, tablets and laptops, and in IoT gadgets. In all, more than a billion devices are affected, according to researchers at ESET. The attack can be magnified when a vulnerable AP is involved in the mix of APs and routers by Asus and Huawei.
