An ongoing DeathRansom malware campaign has been found to be part of a larger collection of malicious offensives. FortiGuard Labs researchers say the actor going by the nickname scat01 is responsible for the campaign. The actor, Egor Nedugov, turns out to be a Russian-speaking cybercriminal living in Italy, researchers say. The researchers also linked scat01 to campaigns using the Vidar, Azorult stealer, Evrial stealer and the Supreme miner.
