REvil’s Big Apple Ransomware Gambit Looks to Pay Off

Ransomware-as-a-service gang REvil demands $50 million ransom for Apple to pay for stolen Apple products. The attack was launched against Quanta, a Taiwanese-based manufacturer of electronics, which claims Apple among its customers. The gang started leaking a set of blueprints for some products to turn up the pressure, adding more would be leaked every day the ransom went unpaid. With a May 1 deadline for the ransom, it looks like the stakes have been ramped up substantially.
