Mobile Adware Booms, Online Banks Become Prime Target for Attacks

A snapshot of the 2020 mobile threat landscape reveals major shifts toward adware and threats to online banks. Over the past 12 months, incidents of adware nearly tripled over the past year. Overall in 2020 researchers saw a slight drop in the number of mobile cyberattacks, according to a report released Monday by Kaspersky. It found that while mobile threats have dipped slightly, criminals have focused on the quality of mobile attacks versus mass infections. Ewind Adware was the most popular adware, followed by FakeAdBlocker and HiddenAd.
