Mozilla released beta versions of Firefox 57 that come with a new user interface and a new core engine. The new engine is named Quantum and was announced last year as a savior for Firefox’s sluggish Gecko engine. This has been happening all last year, and engineers have described the process as “replacing a jet engine while the plane is still in flight”” According to anonymous telemetry data
