Microsoft Edge is crowdsourcing whether to show notification prompts

Microsoft Edge 88 is now using a feature called adaptive notification requests that uses crowdsourcing to determine whether a site’s notification dialog prompt is displayed in the Microsoft Edge web browser. The feature will only be enabled if Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Notifications > Quiet notification requests is disabled. If enough people subscribe to a website’s notification prompts, it indicates that the site is well-liked, and Microsoft Edge will show the full notification subscription dialog. If most users click no to the site’s subscription requests, the browser will show a quiet notification request.
