IBM and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory unveils Summit, the world’s fastest supercomputer. Summit is claimed to be twice as powerful as China’s Sunway TaihuLight. Summit’s peak performance of 200,000 trillion calculations per second is as fast as each 7.6 billion people of this planet doing 26.3 million calculations a second on a calculator. China still has more supercomputers on the Top 500 list, with US owning 143 of the top 500.
