Researchers Unearth Links Between SunCrypt and QNAPCrypt Ransomware

Researchers say SunCrypt may be an updated version of QNAPCrypt, which targeted Linux-based file storage systems. SunCrypt emerged as a Windows-based ransomware tool written originally in Go in October 2019, before it was ported to a C/C++ version in mid-2020. The researchers concluded that both ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) models are operated by different individuals.
