Hamas members pose as women and trick soldiers into installing spyware on their phones. They trick them into going out on dates, where the target would be kidnapped and sometimes killed. The attacks targeted low-ranking members of the Israeli military and that Hamas members were interested in gathering information on the movement of troops. The group has used the same catfishing techniques in the past, but instead of installing malware on the phones, they trick the soldiers into going on dates and sometimes being ambushed and sometimes kidnapped.
