Bug Allowed Access to Over 218K Private Messages on Dark Web Marketplace AlphaBay

AlphaBay is a Dark Web marketplace where users can sell and buy illegal products via the Tor Browser. AlphaBay admins say they’ve fixed a security hole that allowed an attacker to gain access to 218,000 private messages. The attacker obtained the content of over 200,000 messages sent in the last 30 days. Another attacker also discovered a bug in the Hansa marketplace that allowed him to compile a list of usernames and IDs in AlphaBay database. If exploited, the bug would have allowed law enforcement to unmask some details about buyers and sellers.
