Louisiana State Government Hit by Ransomware Attack Forcing Server Shutdowns

The state government of Louisiana was hit by a large-scale coordinated ransomware attack yesterday. The state was forced to take several state agency servers offline, including government websites, email systems, and other internal applications, to mitigate the malware’s infection from spreading. This is the second major cyberattack on the state government this year, after a similar attack on school districts in July. However, the governor has assured that there is “no anticipated data loss” and that “the state did not pay a ransom”
