IT Giant Accenture Hit by LockBit Ransomware; Hackers Threaten to Leak Data

Global IT consultancy giant Accenture has been hit by the LockBit ransomware gang. Ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) gang operates using a RaaS model, roping in other cybercriminals to carry out the intrusion using its platform. Accenture said it has since restored the affected systems from backups. LockBit’s past victims include the Press Trust of India and Merseyrail, which have been targeted by the group. The group emerged on the threat landscape in September 2019 and launched LockBit 2.0 in June 2021.
