After Intel & Equifax Incidents, SEC Warns Execs Not to Trade Stock While Investigating Security Incidents

The SEC has issued new guidance on what classifies as insiders information. The SEC says the new guidance is not a new rule for companies, but a clarification. The guidance comes after two highly-mediatized cases where high-ranking execs sold large quantities of stock before their companies announced a major security incident. There’s is currently no official investigation into Intel CEO Brian Krzanich’s stock sale, but the sale appears to have been planned after learning of the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities.
