Jamaica to allocate millions Cyber Security

Radio Jamaica News published a post on February 13, 2020, about the allocation of $930m for cyber security in the 2020/2021 fiscal year by the Government.

As a measure for preparing against more active cybercrime within the Caribbean, the Government of Jamaica has set a new allotment towards the cybersecurity budget for the 2020/2021 fiscal year.

Key points:

  • The government’s allotment of $930 million for Cyber Security will be inclusive the current Jamaica Eye programme.
  • Within assessment of how the new budget will be spent the government has revealed that a has increased the efforts towards fully erecting the Jamaica Eye program with its acquisition of new surveillance hardware and software in December of the previous year.
  • Jamaica Eye is part of an island-wide network of camera surveillance systems designed to increase the safety of citizens.
