Obama Administration To Launch New White House Cyber Security Unit

A new White House cyber security unit will solidify the Office of Management and Budget’s role in federal government security policy and enforcement. The Obama administration has allocated $20 million for the new “E-gov Cyber” division. The division will ensure that federal agencies properly notify victims of data breaches in a timely way. The move follows the new 2014 Federal Information Security Modernization Act, which calls out the Department of Homeland Security’s role as securing federal government agency networks as well as formally deems DHS responsible for the operational security of those networks.”]
