Viasat Confirms ‘AcidRain’ Malware Could Have Wiped Modems

Viasat outage may have involved wiper malware called “AcidRain” Malware may have wiped thousands of consumer broadband modems, researchers say. 30,000 or more modems were affected across central Europe, including Ukraine. The outage of the modems began Feb. 24, around the time that Russian forces began their most recent invasion of Ukraine. There’s no direct evidence tying AcidRain to the Viaat outage, but there’s circumstantially an Italy connection to the attack. VIAat has confirmed many of the findings published by SentinelOne.”]
