Trojanized Avast CCleaner Attack Targeted Major Tech Firms

Attack on Avast’s CCleaner Windows utility was much more extensive than it first appeared. Avast says it first learned of the attack on Sept. 12, via cybersecurity software firm Morphisec. Cisco’s Talos security wing says 700,000 systems were infected with a trojanized version of the utility. Security experts say the attack mirrors the NotPetya attack on M.E.
