Supreme Court Won’t Review CareFirst Data Breach Case

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to review a data breach case that would have been the first of its kind to be reviewed by the high court. The class action lawsuit against CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield is now headed back to a Washington federal trial court. This means the case goes back to court that dismissed CareFirst’s request that the case against the insurer be thrown out, one of the attorneys representing plaintiffs in the case says. “We don’t believe that the Supreme Court needs to spend its time developing unique standing jurisprudence in the data breach field,” an attorney says.”]
